If we supported gun control, how might we proceed with confiscating all the guns from law-abiding citizens?
Podcast Transcript: “Alright, let’s pretend for a minute that we love the idea of gun control, that we want to take away guns from all the law-abiding citizens, because let’s be honest, that’s what gun control is. It’s this idea of passing a federal law I suppose to banish the Second Amendment and say that all law-abiding citizens should turn in their guns, but not the criminals. You see because criminals, by definition, don’t follow the law. So, they wouldn’t turn in their guns. What you would have in society is basically what you have in Chicago – which is all the guns are in the hands of the criminals who now know that they can carry out murders, rapes and robberies with impunity, because the citizens can’t shoot back. Believe me citizens having guns is a very strong deterrent against crime. Look at the case of Minnesota. Minnesota has experienced the lowest rates of violent crimes for 47 years and yet, Minnesota now has the highest rates of gun purchases that they’ve ever seen in their history. Hundreds of thousands of new guns were purchased by Minnesotans – if that’s the correct way to say that – last year in 2017. Yet, the crime rates are the lowest they’ve seen in 47 years. How can that be? If the presence of guns causes all kinds of crimes, then how is it exactly that Minnesota has the lowest rates they’ve seen in half a century of crime – even though they have the highest rates of gun ownership that they’ve ever seen or gun purchases? You see the truth is that more guns actually equals less crime when the guns are in the hands of law-abiding citizens…” Listen to the full podcast below:
